What Linex Forte is and what it is used for?

• Linex Forte is a probiotic which means that it contains microbes beneficial to your health in appropriate amount. Linex Forte contains two strains of lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus acidophilus LA-5 and Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis BB-12) which help establish and maintain the equilibrium and the function of microbes in your intestines (intestinal microflora).


• Microbes are naturally present in the small and large intestine. They maintain the acid-base balance required for the normal functioning of digestive enzymes, the immune system and peristalsis (movement) of the bowels). They furthermore prevent reproduction of harmful microbes.


• The lactic acid Bacteria in Linex Forte are lyophilised (i.e., freeze-dried). This enables Linex Forte to be stored at room temperature while preserving the shape and activity of bacteria.


• Linex Forte can be used to restore and maintain normal gastro-intestinal microflora.


• Taking probiotics or lactic acid bacteria effectively reduces the incidence and severity of mild to moderate gastrointestinal disturbances (especially diarrhoea) resulting from the destruction of normal intestinal microflora and maintains normal bowel motility.

How to take Linex Forte:

• Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.


• Linex Forte is intended for oral use (by mouth).


• It is recommended that you take the capsules with a meal to make the medicine as effective as possible.


• If taking Linex Forte together with antibiotics, we recommend that you take Linex Forte capsules at least 3 hours after taking the antibiotic.


• Do not take Linex Forte capsules together with alcohol drinks or hot beverages.


• For those who cannot swallow or do not know how to swallow the capsule, open the capsule and pour its contents (powder) onto a spoon. Add just enough liquid to the powder so it can be swallowed.

Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age:

• 1 capsule one to three times a day (e.g., in the morning, at noon, and in the evening, depending on the severity of complaints).

You can take Linex until symptoms improve. If diarrhoea does not improve after 2 days of taking Linex Forte you must see a doctor.

During treatment of diarrhoea replacement of lost fluid and salts is essential.

Warnings and Precautions:

• Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before you start taking Linex Forte


• You must contact a doctor if your do not feel better (particularly regarding diarrhoea) ) or if you feel worse after 2 days.
