How to use:
The breast pump includes a soft-touch, ergonomic swivel handle - to
utilizeour research-based, patented 2-Phase Expression Technology. Through research, Medela has learned that there are two distinct phases of how babies breastfeed. The first phase, known as stimulation phase is when the baby first goes to the breast and sucks fast to initiate the milk flow. The second phase of expression occurs after milk flow or “let-down” begins. During this phase, baby breastfeeds at a slower suck rate for continued milk flow. At Medela, we integrated this natural sucking behaviorinto our breast pumps to create Harmony – the first manual breast pump to offer 2-Phase Expression Technology. Harmony's single vacuum manual settings are easy to adjust, making the pumping experience convenient and more comfortable. Mothers have the flexibility to switch between the modes by adjusting the handle. This is the key to efficient breast pumping – and a major reason why Medela is the leading breast pump recommended by doctors for new mothers. Mothers can significantly reduce the time taken to express, because the milk flows faster and more easily.

- Pumping can induce labour. Do not pump until after giving birth. If you become pregnant
while breastfeeding or breast pumping, consult with a licensed healthcare professional
before continuing. - If infected with Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, or Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), pumping
breast milk will not reduce or remove the risk of transmitting the virus to your baby through
your breast milk. - Wash all parts that come into contact with your breast and breast milk after every use.
- Small parts may be swallowed by toddlers. Close supervision is necessary when the breast
pump or accessories are used in the vicinity of children. - This is a single-user product. Use by more than one person may present a health risk.
- The device and its accessories are not heat-resistant. Keep away from heated surfaces or open flames.
- Do not expose the device to direct sunlight.
- Before each use visually inspect the individual components for damage or wear. Never use a defective device. Throw away parts at first signs of damage or weakness.
- Do not repair the device by yourself. Do not modify the device.
- Use the device only for its intended purpose as described in these instruction for use.
- Do not microwave or boil breast milk. Microwaving can cause severe burns to baby’s mouth from hot spots that develop in the milk during microwaving (Microwaving can also change the composition of breast milk).
- Clean and sanities all parts that come into contact with your breast and breast milk prior to first use.
- Only use Medela recommended parts with the device.
- While some discomfort may be felt when first using a breast pump, it should not cause pain.
