Mechanism Of Action Of Cefalexin
- Cefalexin is a cephalosporin. Like penicillins, it is a beta-lactam antibiotic. It acts by binding to specific penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located inside the bacterial cell wall thus it inhibits the bacterial cell wall synthesis.
- Without a cell wall, a bacterial cell is vulnerable to outside water and molecular pressures, which causes the cell to quickly die.
Therapeutic Indications Of Cephadar 125 Mg Suspension
- Cefalexin is indicated in the treatment of the following infections:
- Respiratory tract infections & otitis media
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Bone and joint infections
- Genito-urinary infections, including acute prostatitis
- Dental infections
Method Of Administration Of Cephadar 125 Mg Suspension
- Cefalexin is for oral use
- Adults: 1-4g daily in divided doses; most infections will respond to a dosage of 500mg every 8 hours
- More severe infections or those caused by less susceptible organisms may need larger doses
- Dose adjustment is required in case of renal impairment
- For Pediatric: The recommended daily dosage for children is 25-50mg/kg in divided doses
- Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.

- Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain from:
- Diarrhea
