White petrolatum/ Mineral oil 3.5 g Eye ointment
What white petrolatum/ mineral oil is used for:
- White petrolatum and mineral oil are lubricants that are used as a temporary relief of irritation, burning, and discomfort that is caused by eye dryness or exposure to the sun or wind.
- This medicine is especially useful in providing soothing relief during nighttime.
Do not use white petrolatum/ mineral oil:
- If you are allergic to white petrolatum, or mineral oil or any of the ingredients in this medicine.
- Tell your doctor about the allergy and what signs you had.
Warnings and precautions:
- Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you develop allergic reactions such as shortness of breath, skin rash, swelling of the face or neck, decreased blood pressure and dizziness.
- Stop using this medicine and talk to your doctor if you experience any new or worsening of signs like, eye pain, increased eye redness and irritation or vision changes.
- This medication is designed for topical eye use only. Do not use for other purposes.
- Make sure to tell your doctor about other eye disorders that you have such as eye inflammation or eye edema.
- Avoid contact of the eye ointment tip with any surface to prevent bacterial contamination.
- Make sure to replace the ointment cap after using it.
- If you are using more than one eye drop solution, make sure to administer each at least five minutes apart.
Possible side effects:
- Possible rare but serious side effects include signs of an allergic reaction, like rash and itching.
- Common side effects include blurred vision (temporary), eye burning and eye stinging.
Other medicines and white petrolatum/ mineral oil:
- Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medications including eye drops.
- If you are using more than one eye drop solution, make sure to administer each at least five minutes apart to avoid precipitation of the eye drop.
How to use white petrolatum/ mineral oil:
- Wash your hands. Uncap the ointment.
- Tilt your head slightly backward and pull down your lower eyelid making a pocket
- Apply a small amount (one-fourth inch) of ointment to the inside of your eyelid at bedtime.
How to store white petrolatum/ mineral oil:
- Keep ointment tightly closed when you are not using it.
- Store medication at room temperature (15 to 30 °C). Do not freeze.
- Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
- Use this product only if imprinted tape covers the top, and bottom flaps are present and clearly legible.
- Do not use beyond the expiry date mentioned on the box.
- Keep away from light.
- Do not dispose in the wastewater or household waste.
