Angiotensin -II is produced in the body and causes the blood vessels to contract so that the blood pressure increases. Valsartan works by blocking the effects of angiotensin -II.</li> <li>This means that both components help prevent blood vessels from constricting.</li> <li>This causes the blood vessels to relax and the blood pressure to drop.</li> <li>Amlodipine/Valsartan drug combination is used to treat high blood pressure in adults who do not achieve adequate blood pressure control with either amlodipine or valsartan alone.</li> </ul> <p><strong>How To Use :</strong></p> <ul> <li>Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you.</li> <li>Contact a doctor if you are unsure.</li> <li>It will help you get the best possible result and reduce the possibility of side effects.</li> <li>The usual dose of Amlodipine/Valsartan drug combination is one tablet daily.</li> <li>It is preferable that you take your medicine at the same time every day.</li> <li>Swallow the tablet with a glass of water.</li> <li>You can take Amlodipine/Valsartan drug combination with or without food.</li> <li>Do not take Amlodipine/Valsartan drug combination with grapefruit or grapefruit juice.</li> <li>The doctor may suggest a higher or lower dose, depending on how you respond to the treatment.</li> <li>The prescribed dose must not be exceeded.</li> </ul> <p>Amlodipine/Valsartan drug combination &nbsp;and the elderly (65 years and older):</p> <ul> <li>The doctor must exercise caution when increasing the dose.</li> <li>Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions about the use of this medicine.</li> </ul> <p>If you take too much Amlodipine/Valsartan drug combination :</p> <ul> <li>Contact a doctor immediately if you have taken too many Amlodipine/Valsartan drug combination tablets, or if someone else has taken your tablets. Excess fluid can build up in the lungs (pulmonary oedema) which can cause shortness of breath. This can occur up to 24-48 hours after ingestion.</li> </ul> <p>If you have forgotten to take Amlodipine/Valsartan drug combination :</p> <ul> <li>If you forget to take this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. Then take the next dose at the usual time. If it is almost time for the next dose, you should not take the dose you forgot. You should not take a double dose to replace a forgotten tablet.</li> </ul> <p>If you stop treatment with Amlodipine/Valsartan drug combination :</p> <ul> <li>Ending treatment with Amlodipine/Valsartan drug combination may result in worsening of your illness.</li> <li>Do not stop taking the medicine without consulting your doctor.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Warnings And Precautions:</strong></p> <p>Do not use Amlodipine/Valsartan drug combination :</p> <ul> <li>If you are allergic to amlodipine or other calcium channel blockers.</li> <li>This can cause itching, redness of the skin or breathing difficulties.</li> <li>If you are allergic to valsartan or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;Talk to your doctor before taking Amlodipine/Valsartan drug combination &nbsp;if you:</p> <ul> <li>Think you are allergic.</li> <li>If you have serious liver or bile problems, e.g. Cirrhosis (biliary cirrhosis) or blocked bile ducts (cholestasis).</li> <li>If you are more than 3 months pregnant. (it is also best to avoid Amlodipine/Valsartan drug combination in early pregnancy, see section on pregnancy).</li> <li>If you have very low blood pressure ( hypotension ).</li> <li>If you have narrowing of the main artery valve (aortic stenosis) or cardiogenic shock (a condition where your heart is unable to supply the body with enough blood).</li> <li>If you have heart failure after a heart attack .</li> <li>If you have diabetes or reduced kidney function, and you are being treated with a medicine for high blood pressure that contains aliskiren.</li> <li>Do not use Amlodipine/Valsartan drug combination and talk to your doctor if any of the above applies to you .</li> </ul> <p>Talk to your doctor before using Amlodipine/Valsartan drug combination :</p> <ul> <li>If you have been ill ( vomiting or diarrhoea ).</li> <li>If you have liver or kidney problems.</li> <li>If you have had a kidney transplant or you have been told that you have a narrowing of the blood vessels to the kidneys.</li> <li>If you have a disease affecting the adrenal glands called "primary hyperaldosteronism".</li> <li>If you have had heart failure or have had a heart attack .</li> <li>Follow your doctor's instructions for starting dosage carefully.</li> <li>Your doctor may also examine your kidney function.</li> <li>If your doctor has told you that you have a narrowing of the heart valves (called "aortic or mitral stenosis") or the thickness of your heart muscle has increased abnormally (called "obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy").</li> <li>If you have experienced swelling, especially of the face and neck, when using other medicines (including angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors ).</li> <li>Stop taking Amlodipine/Valsartan drug combination and contact your doctor immediately if you experience these symptoms.</li> <li>You should never use Amlodipine/Valsartan drug combination</li> </ul> <p><strong>Ingredients</strong><strong>:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Amlodipine/Valsartan drug combination.</li> </ul> <p>It's available in different concentrations and for multi companies:</p> <p>Amlodipine/Valsartan drug combination &nbsp;5 mg/80 mg film-coated tablets:</p> <ul> <li>Each tablet contains 5 mg of amlodipine and 80 mg of valsartan.</li> </ul> <p>Amlodipine/Valsartan drug combination &nbsp;5 mg/160 mg film-coated tablets:</p> <ul> <li>Each tablet contains 5 mg of amlodipine and 160 mg of valsartan.</li> </ul> <p>Amlodipine/Valsartan drug combination &nbsp;10 mg/160 mg film-coated tablets:</p> <ul> <li>Each tablet contains 10 mg of amlodipine and 160 mg of valsartan.</li> </ul>
