About Product

 Composition :

Respred 15 mg/5 ml Syrup:

Active ingredient: Prednisolone sodium phosphate 20.1 mg/5

ml (15 mg prednisolone base).

Excipients: Edetate disodium, liquid sorbitol (non-crystalline),

methyl paraben, dibasic sodium phosphate, sucrose,

monobasic sodium phosphate, propylene glycol, allura red

color, redberry flavor, saccharin sodium, purified water.

What it is used for



Respred is indicated for the conditions of respiratory diseases,

allergic states, and rheumatic disorder, collagen diseases,

endocrine disorders, ophthalmic diseases, hematologic disorders

and neoplastic diseases.

How to use Respred

Adult Patients

The dose used will depend upon the disease, its severity, and the

clinical response obtained.

The following regimens are for guidance only. Divided dosage is

usually employed.

• Short-term treatment

20 to 30 mg daily for the first few days, subsequently reducing

the daily dosage by 2.5 or 5 mg every two to five days,

depending upon the response.

• Rheumatoid arthritis

7.5 to 10 mg daily. For maintenance therapy, the lowest effective

dosage is used.

Pediatric patients

The initial dose of Respred may vary depending on the specific

disease entity being treated. The range of initial doses is 0.14 to 2

mg/kg/day in three or four divided doses (4 to 60 mg/m2BSA/day).

The standard regimen used to treat nephrotic syndrome in

pediatric patients is 60 mg/m2/day given in three divided doses

for 4 weeks, followed by 4 weeks of single dose alternate-day

therapy at 40 mg/m2/day.


Possible Side Effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although
not everybody gets them.
If you experience any of the following side effects after you
have been given your medicine, tell your doctor or
pharmacist immediately
• Severe allergic reaction which may include a red and lumpy
skin rash, difficulty breathing, swelling of face, mouth, lips or
eyelids, unexplained high temperature (fever) and feeling faint. If
the swelling affects your throat and makes breathing and
swallowing difficult, go to hospital straight away.
• Serious mental health problems. Steroids, including
prednisolone, can cause serious mental health problems. These
are common in both adults and children. They can affect about
five in every 100 people using medicines like prednisolone. The
symptoms include:
- Feeling depressed, including thinking about suicide;
- Feeling high (mania) or moods that can go up and down;
- Feeling anxious, having problems sleeping, difficulty in
thinking or being confused;
- Losing your memory.
How to store Respred
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Do not store above 30°C. Store in the original container.
Do not use Respred after the expiry date which is stated on the
label.
Do not use Respred 15 mg/5 ml Syrup if you notice that it is not
red color, clear flavored liquid.
Do not use Respred 5 mg/5 ml Syrup if you notice that it is not
clear flavored liquid.
Once opened, store below 30°C and use within 3 months.
Keep this medicine in the original packaging, in order to protect
from light.
Do not use this medicine if you notice any visible signs of damage
to the bottle or deterioration in your medicine. Return it to your
pharmacist.
