• Xifaxan contains the active ingredient Rifaximin-alpha.


• Rifaximin is an intestinal antibiotic used to treat Irritable Bowel Syndrome with predominant diarrhea, traveler's diarrhea in adults and Hepatic Encephalopathy.

How to use:

• Always take Xifaxan exactly as your doctor has told you.


• You can take Xifaxan with or without food.


• Take the tablets with a glass of water.


• If you forget to take a dose, take the missed dose as soon as you remember and take your next dose at its regular time.

Caution & Warnings:

• If you are using activated charcoal, take Xifaxan at least 2 hours after taking charcoal.


• Do not by yourself interrupt the period of treatment prescribed.


• Consult your doctor before taking Xifaxan, if you have a bowel obstruction, or if you have diarrhea accompanied by fever or blood in the stool.


• Rifaximin may cause a red discolorationof urine.

• Sodium starch glycolate(type A), glycerol distearate, colloidal anhydrous silica, talc, microcrystalline cellulose, hypromellose, edetate disodium, propylene glycol, red iron oxide E172.
